ABOUT THE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

The volunteer program is an initiative of JLC that aims to help communities through pioneering project receiving volunteers from around the world so they can work in the Lenca communities where the organization operates. The program can last from 6 to 1 year in which the volunteer brings a donation to cover living expenses, accommodation, transport allowance and work on projects. The volunteer has the opportunity to work closely with the indigenous inhabitants of these communities.

WHERE TAKES PLACE THE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM?

Volunteers will work in the department of Intibucá, specifically in the communities of Belén and Manazapa, these are 100% indigenous communities and lack of basic human rights, that's why the organization has chosen it to be the beneficiaries of this program. Volunteers will live in the La Esperanza city.



Each volunteer will have an individual work plan for the duration of his/her cycle, this plan will be reviewed and agreed with the program coordinator, at the same time he will make the progress reviews of the volunteer goals in its work plan.

WHO CAN BE VOLUNTEERS?

To be a volunteer you must be older than 20 years and meet the requirements that are in the application guide, all required documents must be presented before being elected, once the application has been submitted will be reviewed by a board that will select the profiles of the volunteers who will be part of the 2016 cycle.

COST OF VOLUNTEERING

The voluntary donation to join the program is US $6,500 for a period of 6 months and $7,500 for a period of one year, it covers lodging, food, transportation, monthly allowance, spanish classes for the period of duration of the volunteer program, health insurance 24/7 hours, and logistical work in communities. This donation makes it possible for the program to be sustainable and allows it continue to work in these communities in the different projects in the world.

Airline tickets are paid by the volunteer who must send a photocopy of their air tickets and all documents required for their arrival in Honduras.



  • APPLICATION PROCESS

    Read the application manual to register and then proceed to fill the online application form available on this site. Once submitted the form, a board will give review and shall notify the volunteer two weeks after the close deadline for implementing the program.

  • DEADLINE TO APPLY

    The program opens on November 1st and closes on January 20. Later the organization in a two week period will respond to applications received announcing the volunteers chosen for the 2016 cycle.
